About Scout Osia
From Scout to Leader to Innovator
My journey with Scouting began decades ago when I earned my Eagle Scout rank. Like many who've been through the program, those experiences shaped who I am today—teaching me leadership, service, and the value of mentorship. But I never imagined I'd one day be back in the trenches, this time as a parent watching my own four kids navigate their Scouting adventures.
Over the years, I've served in just about every role you can think of—both on the committee side and in unit leadership. Currently, I'm serving as Pack Committee Chair, and I'm about to take on the role of Troop Committee Chair as well. I've experienced firsthand the incredible impact Scouting has on young people. I've also experienced the mountain of administrative work that comes with running a unit effectively.
The Problem: Too Much Busy Work, Not Enough Fun
Here's the thing: I know how these units should be run. I've seen it done right. I know the systems, the processes, the best practices that make for a thriving, well-organized Scout unit. But like most volunteers, I simply don't have enough hours in the day to implement everything the way it should be done.
There's the scheduling, the communications, the advancement tracking, the event planning, the permission slips, the budget management, the committee meetings, the training records—the list goes on. All of this administrative overhead pulls leaders away from what we actually signed up for: mentoring youth, teaching outdoor skills, building character, and making memories around the campfire.
The Solution: Scout Osia
I got tired of drowning in busy work. I got tired of watching passionate volunteers burn out because they spent more time in spreadsheets than they did with Scouts. I realized that with today's AI technologies, there was a better way. So I set to work creating Scout Osia—a solution that automates the administrative grind so leaders can focus on the fun part of Scouting.
Scout Osia isn't just software built by someone who read about Scouting. It's built by someone who's lived it—as a youth, as a parent, and as a leader. Every feature addresses a real pain point I've encountered. Every automation solves a problem that's kept me up at night or pulled me away from my own kids' activities.
My Vision
I believe that volunteer leaders shouldn't need to choose between running an organized, high-quality program and actually spending time with their Scouts. With the right tools, we can have both. That's why I created Scout Osia—to give leaders back their time, reduce burnout, and help every unit operate at its best.
Whether you're a Pack leader coordinating den meetings, a Troop committee member tracking advancement, or a unit commissioner supporting multiple units, Scout Osia is designed to lighten your load. Because at the end of the day, we're all here for the same reason: to provide young people with experiences that will shape them for a lifetime.
Let's spend less time on paperwork and more time on what matters—the Scouts themselves.
